Meet the Team

A Great Good Space was dreamed up by two artist friends, Denise and Jeannine.

We met in our high school art class. As the years passed we went to different universities, traveled, and worked abroad, studied some more, and after it all, found ourselves in the same city again.

At the end of 2022, over coffee and pastries, naturally, we thought up a Great Good Space: a place to share our love of art, a space where art is for everyone.

We believe that art is a celebration of our humanity. We believe that art is about community, a place where we can share our feelings.

We believe that art is for everyone and that everyone should have access to art.

We encourage artists of all ages and from all backgrounds.

    Mother, Artist, Storyteller

Jeannine is mother, artist, and storyteller. She has a master’s degree in Creative Literature from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. She has worked as a writer and designer in big and small companies, and also runs a tiny illustration business, Jam and Toast. Growing up, Jeannine doodled on everything (and still does), and she is thrilled to pass along her love of drawing to all artists everywhere.

Meet the Space

a Great Good Space is a gathering place. A space to pause + play everyday.

a Great Good Space believes that everyone is an artist. We use our hands and minds to create great things, and understand that the process is most times more important than the product.

As for the name? It comes from our favorite book, “A Great Good Place” by Ray Oldenburg, where he promotes the significance of accessible and informal gathering spaces in our everyday public life. The places in between [third spaces] where we find each other and ourselves.

A place that is a leveler is, by its nature, an inclusive place.
— Ray Oldenburg

This is the space we work to create.

What makes a great good space?

a Great Good Space is informed by the Learning Environments, Pedagogies, and possibilities of creative collaboration that inspired us to find this space in between for Art Education and Creative Community.

Most importantly, our work reflects the educators, artists, friends [old + new], and lived experiences that have encouraged us along the way. They allow us to make this space a Great Good Place.

Here’s a list, just to name a few:

Thank you for meeting us here!

See you at our next Great Good event.
